Dear Mrs. Rosie Antequino,
Chairman 2014 CPU Global Queen Contest
First of all, I would like to congratulate each one of us who have attended the global reunion, its organizer and anybody who even in spirits have contributed to the tremendous success of the 2014 Global Reunion.
I have enjoyed the camaraderie, unity and most especially have felt the blessings that God and our Alma Matter have given to our lives. I am writing this letter with the intent to express myself, probably correct misinformation and hopefully that in the future nobody will feel deceive, hurt, with feelings of resentment especially to the coming reunions.
I have raised over $26,000 in my fund raising to support my initiative and most of all to give back to the school which prepares me to be what I am now,. To these I am most grateful. I have touched more than 100 Alumni friends, classmates, families, and acquaintances giving an increment of $2 making them aware of my school, as well as, my initiative to help the less fortunate.
If all of you in the committee will again look at the guidelines of this contest, there are only three spelled out policy.
A. On donations, cash or check will be given to the alumni chapter or CPU-FOAA.
In the past, I strongly believed that the contestant who raised the most money DURING the Reunion will be declared the winner. On this particular situation, there are some that were not followed:
1. CPUAA- Southern California credited to their contestant a total of $15,200 that was given in March 2014 towards the painting of Loreto Tupaz building. This has violated the rules and guidelines since this donation was given to CPU not to the chapter or CPU-FOAA.
Secondly, this check was not presented during the first canvassing on July 25, 2014. I feel that this action implies a malicious intent to deceive the other chapters.
Thirdly, the chairman of the canvassing committee is also the president of a chapter who has a candidate which denotes a conflict of interest. I feel that Mr. Lebiga has an obligation to notify the chairman of the Global Queen Contest of these donations since it did not qualify in the guidelines of the contest. If he has declared this check during the first canvassing, the issue has been addressed; resolve and the other chapters should have given a fair chance in this aspect.
The canvassing committee was all made up of two persons which are all from CPUAA- Southern California and one from Canada who has also supported the Southern California candidate. The canvassing was held in a closed door approach. The clout of doubt and uncertainties cannot be erased in this circumstance since the chapters have not been represented by their corresponding representative.
There is no transparency on this aspect.
In March of 2014, CPUAA-Southern California announced their candidate and they have established their own guidelines of donations that were not the guideline of the existing rules formed by the committee of the Global Queen Contest.
There was no mention in the guidelines when the start of the contest for donation hence, clearly stated that the donations (actual money) will be turned over to the finance committee on July 26, 2014.
The $15,200.00 donation to CPU is evidence by just a receipt of acknowledgement dated March 2014. Therefore, no active money was endorsed to the finance committee on that day.
The implication of this action denotes the following: (1) Alumni candidate who have access to donors to CPU will not be motivated to do fund raising anymore; (2) We will lose the essence of fun, unity and awareness of our school; (3) There will come a time when the president of our school attending the reunion will go home empty handed since the donations that has been counted has already been spent previously.
Personally, our organization in Tampa Florida has raised a total amount of $35,000.00 towards the victim of typhoon Yolanda. My husband and I brought the check to ABS-CBN Sagip Kapamilya and the other half was donated thru Gawad Kalinga. If I have counted that money and give to CPU towards that project, Dr. Robles will be going home with less than $16000.00 in donation.
Another situation is the donation given by Congressman Ferjenel Biron in the amount of $5.5 million pesos for the construction of the CPU Gymnasium. Since there is no guidelines on the date of the donations, I could have credited this amount to my candidacy and attend the Global Reunion without a single dollar and will surely win since this amount is almost $127,000.00
During the coronation night, Mr. Lebiga have announced that Dr. Robles is going home with a total of $57,000.00 + but actually he is $15,200.00 less.
My fellow alumni please continue to live by the values, mission and vision of what CPU has taught us.
Honesty, Integrity as well as Transparency is what I am asking on the new administration to be led by Mr. Lebiga.
I am requesting a full recount of valid votes using the established guidelines and acknowledgment of the true winner with all the rights, honor and recognition.
I am standing for the righteousness, honesty and integrity that what a Centralian should be.
God Bless You.
Respectfully,
Emma Lazarte Barrido
I cannot comprehend why mr. Lebiga is doing such…. when we were playing for central during our high school days mr. Agriam would see to it that the hallowed “central spirit” will always prevail… a true centralian reflects “scentia et fides” this is the central spirit…. be a “vessel of honor” to our great Central!
